As Uganda gears up for the 2026 general elections, a powerful message of unity, development, and youth empowerment echoed through Mukono District during the launch of Greater House Mukono Foundation, a landmark community gathering at Ssaza Ground in Ggulu, Mukono Municipality.
The event, hosted by the Greater House Mukono Foundation, brought together religious leaders, government officials, and community members in a spirited launch of a development and leadership initiative aimed at restoring Mukono’s former glory and safeguarding its future.
Delivering a speech on behalf of Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Mobilization Moses Byaruhanga, Special Presidential Advisor on Women Affairs in Buganda, Josephine Kasaato, urged parents to guide their children toward personal growth and away from political exploitation.
She emphasized the dangers of youth involvement in violent protests, warning that such actions often lead to tragic consequences.
Kasaato also challenged religious communities to balance faith with action, stating, “Spending all your time praying without taking steps to improve your life dishonors the Kingdom of God.
” She further expressed concern over men who have abandoned self-improvement, noting that poverty is eroding the strength of families.
Mukono Police’s community liaison officer, Shafik Kasujja, reinforced the message of peace, cautioning youth against being manipulated by politicians to incite unrest. He highlighted the long-term economic damage such actions can cause, including imprisonment and loss of livelihood.
Kasujja also issued a stern warning to those involved in stealing electric wires, announcing that operations are underway to apprehend offenders.
Pastor Dr. Samuel Lwandasa, founder of the Greater House Mukono Foundation and Senior Pastor of Mt. Lebanon Church, called on residents to reclaim the district’s dignity and legacy.
" We aimed at restoring calm to the image of Mukono by using government agencies and maintaining peace in Mukono town." He says
His vision was echoed by Mukono Resident District Commissioner Hajjati Fatumah Nabitaka Ndisaba, who praised the initiative as a cornerstone for building a brighter future for Mukono and Uganda.
