The recent instruction by the head of state where he openly criticised the loopholes in the Auto automatic express penalty system has left questions among   a section of road users, but much of the most affected are the drivers who were already penalized whether the tickets are to be cancelled.
Speaking to salt media in an exclusive interview the ministry deputy spokes person Allan Sempebwa stated that currently the ministry is still in consultation with the various actors who include the attorney general on its legal interpretation.
Sempebwa further stated that the project was not only from ministry of works but there were other players who include ministry of presidency, KCCA and internal affairs.
He has however   declined to comment whether the ministry will retable this bill back to parliament to make such amendments since it was designed by the parliamentary committee of physical infrastructure.
Sempebwa has also declined to reveal whether other amendments are to be considered such as reversing the speed meters before consulting the Russian company which was constructed to carry on the work.
The EPS system has been undergoing immense criticism from the time it was introduced, especially the automatic penalties from traffic cameras .The president publicly criticized it while addressing parliament last Thursday faulting   the way it was conducted which was contrally to the security reasons as opposed to fines.

On Wednesday last week a section of tax leadership presented a petition to the ministry of finance which was submitted by the tax operators chairperson Rashid Sekindi at the ministry head quarters.
Among their prayers these demanded the EPS system to be stayed until amendments such as reversing fee penalties among others was to be addressed.
The tax drivers had also threatened to stage a sit down strike today until the ministry suspended the system waiting for the ministry of works and transport issuing the fresh system on the 12th of July.
