The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has issued a direct order to the UPDF Engineers Brigade to complete the construction of the new Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA) headquarters within the next eleven months.
The new MODVA headquarters is a flagship infrastructure project being undertaken by the UPDF's own engineering corps, showcasing the force's growing technical capacity and self-reliance. The modern complex is expected to provide a consolidated and state-of-the-art working environment for the strategic planning and administration of Uganda's defence and veteran affairs.
The CDF's deadline underscores the strategic importance the Uganda People's Defence Forces places on the project. Its timely completion is seen as critical for enhancing operational efficiency, improving coordination, and providing a dignified workspace for the personnel who oversee the nation's security.
The UPDF Engineers Brigade is now expected to mobilise resources and streamline its operations to meet the CDF's directive and deliver the project by mid-2025.
