The sudden death of Ms. Fatumah Bbuye Nabiwemba, a 47-year-old State Attorney attached to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) headquarters, has raised serious concerns and unanswered questions. Here’s a breakdown of the key details and lingering mysteries:
The territorial police at Kasangati Division are investigating a case of sudden death involving Ms. Fatumah Bbuye Nabiwemba, a 47-year-old State Attorney attached to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) headquarters. The incident was reported on 10th July 2025 at around 8:36 p.m. by Mr. Hamuza Kabanda, a driver at the DPP headquarters. Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased was last seen at her workplace approximately four days prior to the discovery. She was found unresponsive inside her residence in Wampeewo, Kasangati Town Council, where she lived alone.
According to her elder brother whom we found at her home this morning Sserwanja Ismail,He told us that she had not been feeling well after losing her only son,She had sent her maid to check on relatives, leaving her alone in the house. When the maid returned after three days without hearing from her she found her dead.
So far,No clear details were provided on  what happened during that period, since the police is still investigating the matter. Detectives recovered "items of evidential value" from her home,Postmortem pending to determine the exact cause of death.
There are still pending questions surrounding her death, including why she was living alone, given her past trauma (losing her son) and previous disappearance. Was there no concern for her mental or physical safety? Was there foul play? The delay in discovering her body (3-4 days) raises concerns, as there were signs of forced entry, struggle, or poisoning. In January 2018, she went missing and later recovered, but no information about where she was found was given, leaving the public to wonder what happened. Her unexplained disappearance years ago adds to the mystery, as it raises questions about whether she was under threat, kidnapped, or suffering from a mental health crisis. As a State Attorney, did her work involve sensitive cases that could have made her a target?
The body was conveyed to the City Mortuary for postmortem examination to establish the cause of death as investigations are going on according to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire Deputy PRO Kampala Metropolitan Police
