14-Year-Old Boy Dies After Falling from Moving Truck

 

Pallisa, Uganda – A heartbreaking incident has left a family and community in mourning after a young boy lost his life in a devastating accident. 

On Sunday evening, at around 5:10 PM, 14-year-old Simon Okodi tragically died after falling from a moving truck along the Kibale-Kamuge road in Kibale Town Council, Pallisa District.  


According to Wilfred Kyapasa, the acting police spokesperson for the Bukedi North region, Simon and a friend had left home to visit a barber in Kibale Trading Center. Along the way, the two boys reportedly jumped onto a slow-moving ,Isuzu Forward truck (registration UBE 451Y) without the driver’s knowledge.  

As the truck approached Kibale Town, one of the boys managed to jump off safely at a hump, but Simon lost his balance and fell beneath the vehicle.Witnesses say he was tragically stepped on by the truck, leading to fatal injuries.  

A team of traffic officers from Pallisa Police Station, led by Sgt. Fred Mutono, rushed to the scene. They documented the accident, took the young boy’s body to Pallisa General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem, and launched an investigation.  

The driver, Okodi Mike, was arrested and detained as authorities continue their inquiries. The truck has been impounded at Kibale yard, pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV). 

The sudden loss of Simon Okodi has left his family and friends in deep sorrow. A bright young life was cut short in a moment of youthful misjudgment, serving as a painful reminder of the fragility of life.
