Fight broke out amongst the butcher men of city abattoir along Jinja road who were protesting over government failing to regulate the price of hides.

Amidst demonstration, the butcher men resolved to cutting and splitting in pieces the hides and blocking all those that tried to load and smuggle the hides on the trucks.

According the protestors the price the prices fell from Shs 3000 per Kg to 200 and 400 per Kg. Therefore this is most likely to result into bankruptcy.

 Due to the cattle high prices, the butcher men say that they used to earn a very small profit margin from the hides, which lost value.

All the efforts to appeal to the various leaders that have visited the slaughterhouse including the president have fallen on a deaf ear.

 Abel Magumba the city abattoir chairperson urged the butcher men to keep calm because they are preparations to setup the hides value addition plant.
