    Harvesting Immature Maize Affects Farmers

    Lukoma Maize farmers of Myanzi Sub County in Kasanada district have appealed to the government to enact strict laws to regulate maize farmers due to rampant harvesting of immature maize that has affected the quality and maize market.

    Nakate Rose one of the framers say that they have made all efforts to maintain the quality of maize produce, though the government has not intervened on the issue of some that are letting them down.

    The farmers appealed to the government to set the standard prices for maize and make farming equipment available on credit in order to promote the quality of maize production.

    Zziwa Birungi Amooti the Kasanda district chairperson and the chairperson of farmers urged farmers to maintain the quality of the maize production and to avoid diseases such as cancer.
