The Cabinet Minister of Information Communication Technology-ICT and national guidance Hon. Judith Nabakooba has cited a slow speed of the Internet at the URA offices at the Mpondwe Lhubiriha border post.  

Nabakooba was inspecting government ICT projects in Kasese and she believes Internet issues have to be rectified in time to avoid delays of revelers at the border.

Judith Nabakooba, the Minister of information and communication technology-ICT and national guidance spent part of Sunday inspecting the communication networks at Mpondwe customs One Stop Border Post under construction.

However during her inspection she realized a slow internet despite having introduced a WiFi at Mpondwe lhubiriha border at the URA offices.

She however promised to relay the challenges to the telecom regulator, the Uganda Communication Commission-UCC for quick intervention.

Despite the Internet challenges, URA officials say the under construction one stop border post will help quick services at the border.

Other places that she visited were Mungunyu Secondary School and SAAD memorial Sec. School that are among the schools that were given computers.

Stakeholders here say the computers are insufficient to serve the overwhelming number of students and quickly asked for more.

In response to the complaint, the Minister promised to work handy with the Ministry of Education to provide room for more computers before they are brought.

In 2012, the government of Uganda embraced ICT as one of the key strategies of enhancing social economic transformation of the country, improving effectiveness and efficiency in service delivery.
