The Federation of Uganda football association president Moses Magogo has expressed dismay at the budget cuts in the sports sector saying this indicates that the government doesn’t prioritize the sports sector despite the big role it plays

While appearing before the finance committee as the committee was interfacing with the education committee Magogo said that the current 64% budget cut to the sector has left the sports fraternity nonfunctional.

The FUFA president further added that with the UGX 30 billion cut budget undermining projects such as the refurbishment of various sports fields such as Bugembe, Kakyeka and Kakyaka stadium all of these programs are going to stall.

Commenting about the football sector, Magogo asserts that over of the 38 billion shillings the federation had asked only 8 billion has been provided which has forced the team to withdraw the national team from international competitions like the CAF championship U23.
Eng. Magogo has further warned the government for neglecting the sports sector saying it’s the biggest employer to the youths, mentioning coaches and players.
Last year the sector was allocated 47 billion shillings; According to this year's budget, the sector has planned over 202 billion shillings for development projects.
Meanwhile, Magogo has expressed concern about whether Nakivubo stadium will be in a position to host international games after being on the CAF committee after the construction. Magogo asserted that the stadium does not fit international standards.
