Players from fifteen nations from the entire world are in Uganda to participate in the beach woodball world cup, the category of beach wood ball.
Janet Kataha Museveni the first lady and the minister of education & sports was supposed to see off the kickoff of the tournament, though she was represented by minister Mary Karoor Okurut.
The occasion of the tournament opening was at Lake Victoria shores at Spenah beach where the minister hit the wooden ball as a sign of officially opening the tournament.
In her message the first lady promised that she is ready to support this new sport and assured to help them acquire a home.
The sport is similar to golf however the ball used is wooden, other tools used including the stick and the gate is wooden.
The sport was introduced in Uganda in 2006 and has grown faster than anticipated. Though Uganda is hosting the world of the sport, the government has not supported the arrangements as promised.
The completion will be running up to 30 May, Uganda has 16 players participating 8 male and 8 female.
