The 2017 AFCON in which Uganda participated after 38 years of absence, Godfrey Luwaga Kizito one the players that played for the team in the historical event was not pleased by Micho who substituted him as he refused to shake his hand on exit.
Luwaga Kizito playing 10 alongside the striker, after the 2 years of time off the team, has been included on the 26-player team to represent Uganda in the AFCON.
The striker is currently playing with the club Shakhter Karagandy-Kazakhstan that he joined on loan from Politechinica Laisi at the start of the season.
The team also entails four players who have been off the team, including defender Ronald Mukibi 27 playing for Ostaersunds FC that finished ninth in the Swedish national league; in addition, he was born in Sweden through a Uganda, in 2017 shunned a call to join the national team as invited by Micho. Michael Azila 31, a midfielder plays with Montreal impact in Canada, has so far played four games for the national team. Finally, Abdul Lumala 21 has been off the squad, currently plays for Swedish club Syrianska.

The usual players included on the team are Yunus Sentamu, Milton Karisa, Shaban Muhamad, Denis Iguma, Edrisa Lubega, and Torres Moses Opndo. In the AFCON 2019, the Uganda Crane team is in group B with DRC, Egypt, and Zimbabwe, the competition is set to start 21 June.
