When they were about to take off for all African games, the boxing team was promised Shs 1 million for every medalist. Out of the 8 boxers on the team, only 3 were able to return with medal namely; Masembe Isaac and Kazuma David won silver medals and Baleke Hellen returned with a bronze medal.

On the occasion that was braced by the coaches and  veteran boxers, Moses Moses Muhnagi the president of UBF awarded the medalist, nevertheless he complained about the unfair distribution of the sports budget funds, something he vowed to continue fighting.

Some of the national ex-boxing stars said affirmed that Uganda’s future in boxing looks great how the leaders still have a lot of work to do. Among the veteran, boxers include Charles Lubulwa who won  7  golden medals from various competitions including them and Lihanda Patrick who was a great boxer in the 70s.

The rest of the boxers that failed to acquire medals were rewarded with boxing gloves, but the coaches were not considered at all.
