Bulambuli Residents Accuse Medical Officers Over Extortion

Local residents of Buginyanya Sub County in Bulambuli district had a chance to ask their civil servants of the district to account for the money government sent to the district as one way of being accountable to the people they serve.

This was in a Baraza forum organized by the office of the prime minister and many residents complained of the bad roads in the district but the biggest blame went to the health sector, where the locals accused the health workers of Buginyanya health Centre 3 for extorting money from them.

And they also accused the doctors of not working on weekends in this heath Centre, the youth also complained of police harassing them when demanding for the youth loan.

The in charge of Buginyanya health Centre 3 Dr Richard Wanyala James said its true some doctor was asking for some money from the locals but the nurses implicated were arrested.

Commenting on the issue of not working at night he said it’s because they have not been having power for a year now as UMEME is demanding 2.5millions.

State Minister for Karamoja Affairs in the office of the Prime Minister Hon Moses Kizige said he was happy with how the locals responded to the Baraza and promised to hold such meetings across the country.
