Dead bodies retrieved from rivers in Mbale after widespread floods

After the dead bodies were retrieved from the rivers in Mbale , the focus has now  turned to those who lost property, gardens  and homes , due to the floods many people lost their homes and some  were submerged in the the waters.

In Bungokho sub in Mbale district a number of houses were destroyed, while other people have abandoned their houses due to the fear of being swept by the waters. Crops in most gardens are also swept away  or buried in the soils .

A  62 YEAR  old Aida  Nagware  and her grandchildren , are among the most hit as the house they were living in collapsed  during the heavy down pour on Sunday . According to Aida she told us that , it was late at night when the floods entered her house when they were sleeping  and that its was by good luck that one of the grandchildren  she lives with is helped her out .

She added on that she was forced to climb a short tree around which she hung on till morning , she is now calling upon government to help find another place to stay because , she was left with nothing , as she is just renting  now , using the money given to her by the prime minister .

Meanwhile the grandson  told us how she managed to save all the 7 people in the house , as the flood had swept the house .

Many farmers around mbale are also appealing to government to help them out as all their gardens were swept away , masaba john , medi and others said that all they had planted for this season like mazie, beans , sugarcanes and others have been swept away and their families are left with nothing .

Its not only the locals that lost property in these floods but also the china investors of mbale  instriaurial park  lost property  in  billons as a result of their  industries getting flooded by the heavy rains , and the head of the  investors in mbale  have threatened to close the industries if government does not do something to stop the floods .

In the same trend the government through the prime minister  office have sent food worth 60 tones of mazie flour and beans for mbale city and mbale district ,  Ahemda washeke  the rcc mbale city said this food is to be given to those who lost every thing.

He also added on that government has also sent 5m for every family that lost a person in the floods.

The chairman lc5 of mbale district , has called upon the government to give people money and buy plots to relocate rather than keeping people waiting to first build for them.
