The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) To Launch Today In AFCON 2019 Quarter Finals As Ghana Grumbles Over Canceled Goal

The new technology of virtual assistant referee (VAR) to be applied to start with today’s AFCON 2019 quarterfinal games till the end.

The quarterfinals will tip off today as Senegal tosses it out with Benin, Nigeria VS South Africa and on Friday ivory coast Vs. Algeria & Madagascar vs. Tunisia.

Meanwhile Ghana the black stars are still complaining about Victor Gomez the referee who cancelled Andrew Ayew’s goal hence ending the 90 minutes with a 1-1 draw and losing it to Tunisian with 5-4 in the penalty shoot outs.

The VAR technology was first applied in the African football in the African champions league final between Esperance & Wydad Casablanca, though the system failed in the middle of the game, as result trophy was recalled from Esperance the champion and the will be replayed.

The video assistant referee (VAR) is a match official in association football who reviews decisions made by the head referee with the use of video footage and a headset for communication.

The VAR technology was first used in the world cup, and ever since it has been used in various leagues such as China, Spanish la league and English premier league will launch its next season.
