Brain Umonyi is among the 5 top scorers on the national team, he stands in the 5th position with 12 goals though for some reasons this time he was not included on the national team to play in the AFCON 2019.Umonyi 30, is one of the players the others look up to, in his effort to support young players from the Naguru slums, he started brain Umonyi foundation.
Umonyi stated the steps that Uganda needs to take in order to qualify to the next level of the tournament.
In the first match that Uganda played after the 38 years of absence in AFCON, Brain Umonyi scored the first goal as Uganda defeated Botswana 2-0.
In the Uganda cranes camp in Abu Dhabi preparing ahead of AFCON, more two players are yet to join the squad including Charles Lukwago from COSAFA tournament and Michael Azila playing in the USA. Abdul Lumala who is on the national team for the first time says that he is here to make history.
