UCC’s Executive Director, Hon. Nyombi Thembo, met with Salt Media regarding the suspension of their ‘Omusunsuzi’ program for broadcasting standards violations. Thembo commended Salt Media’s commitment to compliance and praised the cooperation between the media company and the program’s host, Jenifer Namutebi Nakangubi.
Hon. Nyombi Thembo, the Executive Director of UCC, has reported a constructive meeting with the management of Salt Media concerning the suspension of their "Omusunsuzi" programme due to violations of broadcasting standards. The meeting identified specific issues, including the use of inappropriate language during a morning time slot accessible to children.
Hon. Nyombi expressed his satisfaction with Salt Media's commitment to future compliance, which includes plans to provide professional training for its staff to enhance their editorial skills. He noted a particularly rewarding moment was meeting the programme's host, who is also his daughter, Jenifer Namutebi Nakangubi, who expressed a wish to pursue further training to ensure the programme meets national standards—a initiative he pledged to support.
He applauded the cooperative spirit of both Salt Media and the host, emphasizing that such collaboration is essential for fostering a responsible media environment that reflects Uganda's values and promotes trustworthy communication, all with the backing of the UCC.
