BUKEDI NORTH REGION, Uganda,, Police in Bukedi North Region are hunting for an unknown driver who fatally struck a pedestrian on Monday evening and fled the scene without stopping to help.

The incident happened on April 6, 2026, at around 8:00 pm at Kamuge Olinga Trading Centre along the busy Pallisa-Kumi road.

The victim has been identified as Olupot John a 35-year-old peasant and member of the Iteso community. He was a resident of Kaguya village, Kamuge sub-county in Pallisa District.

According to police, the unidentified driver was heading from Pallisa towards Kumi when he hit Olupot, who was crossing the road from left to right. “We appeal to anyone with information about a damaged vehicle — especially one with fresh frontal impact marks — to report to the nearest police station. We also urge the driver to surrender before we track him down.”
