A horrific road accident this evening has left several people dead and others critically injured after a Scania truck veered out of control and burst into flames in Makindu Village, Buikwe District.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:00 PM along the Kisoga–Nyenga Road, involving a Scania truck (Registration: UAV 701C) belonging to YY Company. According to preliminary reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle while travelling from Katosi to Jinja, causing it to overturn and catch fire.
Casualties and Rescue Efforts
While the exact number of fatalities remains unconfirmed, authorities report that multiple lives were lost, with bodies still trapped in the wreckage. Injured survivors were rushed to nearby medical facilities, including Kawolo Hospital and St. Francis Lwanga Hospital in Buikwe, where they are receiving emergency treatment.
Police and emergency responders are still at the scene, battling the blaze and working to retrieve the remains of the deceased. The identities of the victims have not yet been released pending family notifications.

The Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety has launched an investigation into the cause of the crash. Preliminary assessments suggest possible speeding or mechanical failure, though officials have not ruled out other factors.
