Parliament Tasks Judiciary Permanent Secretary To Account For Shs34 Billion

Parliamentary public accounts committee has grilled judiciary accounting Officer Kagole Kivumbi for defying committee directive when he was summoned to answer queries raised in the auditor general’s office.


Appearing before the committee chaired by Badadiri west MP Nathan Nandala Mafaabi. Kagole who was put on oath defended himself saying he was unable to appear before the committee because he has been experiencing health complications.  However, the committee member who includes Kalungu west Joseph Sewungu and Adjuman MP Jesicca Abibiku put him to the task to explain why he never communicated to the undersecretary but instead opted to send a lawyer to the committee. However, the committee chairperson insisted asking him to explain which sickness he has been suffering him leaving him to plead before the committee asking it to leave his private life. He was forced to produce a medical form, which he claimed had left at home.
This prompted the committee to instruct the CID escort him to his home however he the officer went to Naguru health centre instead. The committee was adjourned to 40 minutes however the dismissed documents he submitted after MP Pentagon Kamusiime the Butemba County who confirmed that the medical forms vetted were forged.


  However, the committee chairperson later confirmed that the director had lied to the committee, which was contempt of parliament asking CID to follow up the matter.
The committee members also expressed dismay by the court's failure to give out cash bail, which is given during the court session. This followed Kagole confirming that he is still having this funds amounting to over 5 billion shillings. Bushenyi municipality MP Gordon Alinda says this money supposed to be given out immediately.
Alinda says the public cannot access this money because of the bureaucracy involved. He has advised the permanent secretary to the reconciliation because this money is not generating any interest.
