Government through Uganda Civil Aviation Authority is drafting tough regulations to govern the importation, operation of drones in the country.
According to Eng. Ronnie Barongo, the director safety, security and economic regulation at CAA, now they have adopted the regional framework under civil aviation security organization agency, which is ready for promulgation and adoption by the agencies in the region.
He further reveals that they have agreed on technical guides and procedures by the tripartite committee comprising of CAA, URA and security, which addresses importation, clearance and security to avoid interference of aviation traffic.
Barongo further notes that drone operators at various levels should undergo training from the authorized departments before flying the drones in the country.
