Masaka Considered For City-Status After Kabaka’s Visit

Prior to Kabaka’s Masaka visit and portraying amazement at the fact that Masaka municipality was not given city status, the attention for the minister of local government was drawn to the matter.

Tom Butime the minister for local government drew himself to the Masaka municipality headquarters from where he requested for documents to be reviewed by his ministry.

The meeting included various leaders such as Vicente Bamulangaki Ssempijja the minister for fisheries and agriculture, Haruna Kasolo, the minister of microfinance, Mukasa Mbidde the East African parliament legislator, Jude Mbabali the district chairperson and other Masaka municipality leaders who underscored their issues.

George Mutabaazi the Lwengo district chairperson revealed more issues in greater Masaka that need to be tackled.

Minister Butime concluded by highlighting the fact that even though Masaka had been considered for 2023 batch, they are most likely to revisit the decision as long they prove to be worth it.
