The truck drivers in Muduuma, in Mpigi district, are in a state of panic, after The stuation gets out of hand with in period of just two weeks, seven vehicles have been stolen.
The Toyota Townace, UBA 521P, was the latest car to be stolen, and its driver, Ventino Byarugaba, was hired to pickup some items, who was thereafter tight roped and the vehicle taken away from.
Byarugaba is still nursing wounds due to the tight ropes he was tied with and thrown in the bush but spared his life
Byarugaba Shakibu Muwonge, a resident of Bulenga and one of the victims of the car theft, said they have visited various police stations, and he has identified a thief once based on the footage from the police cameras,
ASP Lydia Tumushabe, spokesperson for the police in Mpigi, Butambala and Gomba, told salt media that they have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
Tumushabe praised the usefulness of the police surveillance cameras, which helped them get some of the images of the criminals.
