Kasese mudslide victims in fear of cholera outbreak

The recent mudslides victims are in fear of a cholera outbreak following the recent mudslides that washed away toilets, houses and plantations in Kasika village kasese district.


The mudslides left fifteen people dead, and the displaced people decided to create a camp in the same village.
The recent mudslides displaced persons in kasika village Rukoki Sub County in kasese district are living in fear of cholera outbreak.
According to Hezeroni Mutanaba the vice chairperson of the camp, the sanitation around the camp is not good, he said they are using only one toilet of which it’s not enough compared to the number of households in the camp
 
He added that the government gave them some relief but out of seventy five households only forty-two households received a relief of fifty Kilograms of posho and twenty five kilograms of beans which were not enough
Lazaro Themo a victim of the same area calls upon leaders to come for their rescue of ongoing pupils who have failed to go back to school
Beatrice Kisembo a victim requested the government to re allocate them somewhere because there sanitation in the camp is worrying their life
Simon Buhaka the chairperson LC1 for kasika village where the incident happened requested the government also to extent a hand in supporting residents who lost their businesses during the mudslides
 
Some residents say they have been surviving on the businesses that were washed away by mudslides  
 
When tried to reach the district planners Joseph Isingoma on whether the district has plans to these challenges he was not able to give a comment.
