FDC Members Warned Against Independent Candidature

The Kasese district FDC chairman has sounded a warning to candidates who failed in the primaries against independent candidature in the general elections.

During the recently concluded FDC primaries in Kasese district, a number of incumbents lost the flag and have opted to join the race as independent candidates something that Saulo Maate has condemned.

While speaking to Salt TV at his office in Kasese town, Saulo Maate noted that any FDC member who intends to come as an independent risks losing ground as this shows indiscipline; adding that even those FDC members who will rally behind the independents will be suspended.

Given the history of Kasese being FDC strong holds, Maate still believes even in the next polls they will win saying this time beyond last polls.

While saying this NRM had already won by over 60% the village youth committee elections.

Saulo still reminded these independent candidates that it’s still early for them to step down and harmonize.

Some of these candidates who have opted to come as independents are; incumbent Kasese Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Robert Centenary who declared who never even participated in the primaries, the Busungora South Member of Parliament Hon. Mbaju Jackson Katika who declared as an independent after losing in the primaries among others.

While responding to Saulo’s utterances Hon. Mbaju Jackson Katika said regardless of the fact that he has opted for independent candidature, he still remains an FDC member.

Kabuku Bwambale Ronald is one who wanted to hold the FDC flag for the LcV chairperson seat for Kasese district but was disappointed in the primaries.

He says he would not regret it if he decided to come as an independent was erased from the party register; adding that sometimes struggle goes beyond party membership.

Meanwhile the ANT party members yesterday officially welcomed the Kasese Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Winnie Kiiza in Kasese days after joining the party.
