NEMA Destroys Eucalyptus Forests

The National Forestry authority and police have destroyed the eucalyptus forests that were planted on the forest reserve land in Kakumiro district.

Boaz Basigirenda Kagadi NFA top leader led the operation in which they destroyed trees planted on the land of Nakayoza forest reserve in kikwaya and Igayaza counties in the district of Kakumiro.

Boaz Basigirenda has said that these woods were planted by an investor Stephen Bikumi a resident of Igayaza town council after warning him many times but to no avail.

The NEMA officer in Kakumiro district Christopher Baguma said that this should be an example for all the people who have been encroaching on wetlands, forest reserves and rivers, especially follow the right criterion or get permission from the ministry of environment.
