Uganda's COVID-19 Cases Skyrocket to 227

The number of COVID-19 cases has reached 227 after more 24-truck drivers tested positive

The new 24 confirmed were classified as follows: 14 Kenyans, six Tanzanians and four Ugandans who entered the country through Elegu, Mutukula and Malaba border points.

The 24 new cases were part of 2,044 samples that were tested on Saturday 16th-May-2020 at both the Mutukula points of entry using the Genexpert machines and Uganda Virus Research Institute.

Uganda now has 164 active cases and 63 cases have since recovered and discharged from the health facilities. However the total number of truckers who have tested positive to 168, which is more than half of the confirmed cases in the country.
