Three suspected cases of Coronavirus disease COVID-19 have isolated in Maracha district.
The case includes; two people who recently returned from Kenya, and have recently returned to Kijomoro Sub County in Maracha district, in the West Nile part of Uganda. The third suspected case is a resident of Oluffe Sub County.
Maracha District health officer Dr Paul Onzubo says samples from the suspects have been sent to the Uganda Virus Research Institute in Entebbe for expert analysis.
They are currently under quarantine at Maracha hospital and Kijomoro Health Centre.
Following the detection of the three suspected cases, the district security team has closed all border markets with Democratic Republic of Congo. Maracha District Chairperson Lawrence Adiga Ozubia says that the markets posed a great risk for the community since its often flocked by many Congolese nationals without screening.
