As the government improves the agricultural sector, there is a need to curb down the counterfeit pesticides on the market, which are enormously affecting the returns.Passion fruit farmers in sub-counties of Kiwangala and Kkingo in Lwengo district while at Taga village attending farmers workshop organized by Julius Ssentamu.
As he addressed the farmers, Ssentamu advised them to consult the experts.
He further advised the farmers to adopt modern and environmentally friendly farming methods of mulching and digging pits in their farms to tap rainwater.
Famers including, Francis Ssenyonga, Andrew Kabuye, and Maria Specioza Kachubya mentioned the disease traditionally known as ‘kiwotokwa’ affecting the plant and worsened by the counterfeit pesticides, the farmers appreciated the training offered to them.
The upcountry districts are on the forefront in the campaign to improve on the household income in this nation through modern and cost-effective farming.
