Local leaders in Nyakatonzi Sub County are afraid they could lose all grazing land.
Livestock cattle keepers in Nyakatonzi Sub County in Bukonzo East of Kasese district have expressed worry over the excessive growth of the lantana Camara weed, affecting grazing land.
Now local leaders have fears of losing all the grazing land if the weed infestation is not addressed immediately.
According to the local council's three chairpeople, Mr. Steven Mbera, seventy-five percent of their land has been covered by lantana Camara.
Mr. Steven calls for government and non-organization interventions to uproot the lantana Camara which has invaded the grazing land.
According to Ham Atuhaire Councilor representing Nyakatonzi sub-county to the district, cattle keepers have fears of losing all the grazing land if the weed infestation is not addressed immediately.
Speaking to Salt TV at the launch of a five-year strategic plan for the Bukonzo east community, Masereka Asumani Amis chairperson bukonzo east community said they keep raising the voice of the community.
