For the purposes elimination of poverty and hunger, Butambala district launches an irrigation system with solar devices.

After the whole country realized that Butambala District is the most affected by hunger and poverty, which is due to reliance on peanut and maize crops, recently during the celebration of Youth Day, Microfinance Minister Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo, ordered the RDC to lead the food cleaning and poverty eradication in Butambala.
Yahaya Kavuma Kavuma, Deputy Presidential Adviser on Butambala, today launched the dry season irrigation system in Kalamba, Kibibi Town Council, and Ngando districts solar equipment belonging to the recipients of the u- gift.
Under this scheme, the farmer pays 25%, while the government appeals 75% and the Rdc has assured that if the people of Butambala adopt this scheme they will benefit greatly.
Robert Ssentongo, District Agriculture and Marketing Officer, said the aim is to promote other crops that have been abandoned in the district. Engineer Henry Basika, and Samuel Mwanja, irrigation experts, explained the steps to be taken to benefit from the scheme. Other leaders from the District, led by councilor Faridah Nakiboneka, pointed out how the system will increase yields and tax collection. Various farmers who have considered the system have praised it and advised their colleagues to adopt it.
