Following the president’s directives to fight the Corona virus pandemic, fishing activities in Kahendero landing site in Kasese district have today been paralyzed, leaving people stranded.
The landing site chairperson Mr. Peter Businge told Salt TV today afternoon that businesses are currently limping since there is no means of transport fish to market places.
He also says though residents find it hard to survive amidst the calamity, they have however adopted some measures especially putting in place water sources with soap for everyone around to wash hands.
Peter later appealed to government to at least allow motorcyclists operate for purposes of transporting food items to area.
According to the one of the fish mongers Mr. Peter Busobozi, they are strictly following all health directives as given to them through the president said only nearby people are the ones buying the fish but those coming from far have stopped yet they are the potential consumers.
Reactively, Ms. Jesca Kabahinda who also narrated the hardships of walking on foot during the course of transportation asked government to impose means of transporting their fish to market places since it is the only business at the site based on for daily survival.
Security forces have been deployed at the site to ensure people follow health measures as issued by government in bid to against the COVID-19 pandemic.
