Akol cautioned politicians that the electro commission has instructed her that no politician will be allowed to contest at any position without a tax clearance certificate for the URA.
While presenting the annual tax report of financial year 2019/2010 Doris Akol the Ura commissioner general said that more Ugandans have become compliant in terms of paying tax since the tax collections boosted by over UGX 9 billions.
Doris Akol said that the increase has come about because of the good relationship with the tax payers established by URA and sensitization. In the same way, Akol promised better results in the future because of the good relationship with the taxpayers.
However, the commissioner general pointed out some challenges that they still encounter such as mobile banking, bank agents and mobile money systems though which taxes are dodged.
Mugerwa Stephen the assistant commissioner general field service assured that more cameras will be installed at borders and to tighten the highway check points to fight smuggling.
All this was said at the URA headquarters in Nakawa Kampala while presenting the financial report of 2019/2020.
