The Luweero agricultural officials quickly hurried to Butumbula sub-county after being informed that there is a resistant pest that is destroying the maize plantation.
According to the farmers, this pest eats into the stem and then maize plant begins to dry out. The farmers desperately recounted that they have invested all they have into the maize plantations and spent a lot of money on various pesticides but to no avail.
Ssemiga Wilberforce the agricultural official asserted that thus pest is different from the usual armyworm. In the same way, Haruna Kisakye the Luweero district agricultural official revealed that research has indicated that there are several maize pests including maize stalk borer most of which have no pesticides.
