Nwoya police are holding a man accused of killing his brother in a domestic brawl.
It is alleged that 32-year-old Richard Okello, a resident of Okie village in Ywaya parish in Anaka Sub County Nwoya district clobbered his brother, Denis Ojok with a hoe to death on Sunday.
Patrick Okello Oryema, the Nwoya District LC V chairperson told our reporter that the two siblings returned home drunk and separated to their different homes.
He explains that Okello picked a quarrel with his wife, Christine Atto over food prompting Ojok to intervene and separate the duo and went back to his house.
He says Okello later followed Ojok who was sleeping and hit him severally on the head with a hoe killing him instantly. Oryema explains that domestic violence in the district tends to rise during the harvest period over ownership of resources.
Okello was picked up and locked up at Anaka police station following a complaint by his wife. Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa River Region police spokesperson told Salt Radio that Okello has been charged with murder.
