Police Overwhelmed By Defilement Cases

Kakumiro police have raised a red flag over the escalating cases of defilement and Domestic violence the district.  At least 18 cases of defilement, 13 of them aggravated, have been recorded in the last three months.  

Najib Waiswa, the Kakumiro District Police Commander faults parents for the escalating defilement cases in the district. He says most parents in the district are commercializing defilement and don’t report the cases to police.  

  He says parents only rush to police after failing to negotiate with the defilement suspects. 

 Waiswa also accuses local leaders in the district of witnessing teenage marriages yet they are supposed to protect young girls.
