Conflict Erupts Between Chief Prince & King Of Rwenzururu Over The Burial of Queen Mother

After four days meeting between the Chief prince and the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu cabinet, a consensus has since not been agreed upon on where the late Queen Mother Christine Biira who died last Monday should be buried.

The chief Prince who also doubles as the State Ministers for Agriculture Hon. Christopher Kibanzanga has totally failed to agree with the King of Rwenzururu’s proposal through the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Prime Minister to have the late mother be buried in Kirembo village, Kisinga Town council in Kasese district. While the King of Rwenzururu Charles Wesley Iremangma is unable to step on the land currently as he still carried charges against him in court, all communication with the Prime minister of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu was made on phone, where he revealed the right place to bury the late Queen mother who is currently still in Hospital in Fort Portal. While talking to the chief prince Christopher Kibanzanga stressed how he had taken over the burial arrangements of their mother insisting that the Late Queen Mother be buried in Kirindi village, Bughendera County in Bundibugyo district in their ancestral land where the late Biira Christine started her journey.

He added that his discussion comes after several meetings were held and no resolution was done, adding that the details of the burial will be told later.
According to the Prime Minister of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Hon. Gadi Mpayahi, they feel concerned about the status the Queen mother had and being the first to die since 1962 when the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu emerged, it is, therefore, their wish that she gets a decent burial in Kasese where the When asked what they would do as Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu if the chief prince continued to insist on
Burying their mother in Bundibugyo, Mpayahi stressed that he will have forfeited the historical background arguing that the deceased would now not be buried at the Queen mother rather as Christine Biira.
Mpayahi continued saying that if the deceased is buried in Bundibugyo the relevance of her being the queen mother of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu is no more since she will have been buried in another kingdom. Godfrey Mukwano a resident says that they are not happy with the discussion of the chief prince Christopher kibanzanga because they have stayed here with her over seventy-five years in Kasese.
