District Security Committee Impeach Kasese Youth Polytechnic Boss

Kasese District Security Committee has side-lined the Principal Kasese Youth Polytechnic Mr Serapio Owokunda and the institution’s board members pending investigations into the recent demonstrations of the learners.

On Monday last week Security officers temporarily closed Kasese Youth Polytechnic for one week following the learners’ demonstration against the principal.

Today morning the learners thronged the office of the Kasese District Chairperson seeking the resolution made towards the transfer of their principal who they accuse of corruption, poor service delivery and dictatorship among others.

The angered students revealed that they would not enter the school premises if the principal is still in office.

Speaking to salt TV, the Kasese Deputy Resident District Commissioner Mr Joshua Masereka said that a decision has been made to send home the principal and the board members for a short period of time so that investigations into the matter can start.

He revealed that preliminary investigations indicate that the last week demonstration was either spearheaded by some board members.

The chairperson Local Council V for Kasese District Mr Geoffrey Sibendire Bigogo warned the students against rioting and focuses on studies.

He also said that the decision of sideling the two parties will bring to book the part which was freezing the operation of the institution.

Speaking to the learners after a closed meeting the RDC said that the learners should go back to school and study normally.
